There is no genetic precursor to ADHD, depression, or anxiety; what appears heritable is actually the inheritance of acquired characteristics—if your parent had depression, you're more likely to be depressed because you were raised by a depressed parent, not because of genes. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder do have genetic connections, but ADHD does not.
