The idea that kinetic conflict over Taiwan is imminent or inevitable is a Western assumption with very little evidentiary support; what actually exists is a consistent position by the PLA that reunification is preferred peacefully but will be achieved through other means if necessary, and this does not constitute a war plan or a preemptive threat.
