Richter Recording No Longer Acceptable to His Ears

Although Karl Richter was a remarkable musician who could conduct St. Matthew's Passion from the harpsichord without scores, his recordings are completely modern and machine-like, note-by-note, which is no longer acceptable to Suzuki's ears today even though it generated great excitement for audiences at the time.
