Quadratic voting would be most powerful in the pandemic for eliciting informed, rich feedback about what elements of the response people value most—enabling large-scale remote deliberation that reveals which social-distancing restrictions hurt most and which are most acceptable—rather than necessarily changing how much society values human lives overall.
