The fundamental game or curriculum of human existence is the game of awakening—becoming free awareness, which is the most valuable thing because free awareness is capable of being an instrument for the freedom of others.

The practice of 'Guru Kripa' (grace of the guru) does not require a living guru in physical form; after the guru dies, people can relate to the guru's teachings and presence internally, and can become 'guru siblings' through this shared internal relationship.

The ideal state Ram Dass aims for is living simultaneously from two planes of consciousness: resting in awareness as a reflective presence, while simultaneously being fully engaged in thought, action, and change—being 'perfectly mindful and clear' while also fully active.
