The PKM's size and recoil make it nearly impossible to use effectively in situations that aren't static fighting positions where it falls back to the next position; it is also more difficult to mount optics and night vision equipment on, whereas the NG7 variant is less than half the length of the PKM while still delivering a 7.62mm round.
