Arrow Resources (NextGen Energy) will likely take until 2028-2030 (5+ years from now) to complete development and production despite being a greenfield uranium discovery, because of licensing, capital cost, and construction time, and even with massive capital committed, new uranium mines cannot be accelerated below roughly 5-year timelines.
Long-term uranium contracts are tightly held confidential agreements between mines and utilities; Malcolm has only ever seen one contract in 50+ years under strict confidentiality, and contract terms are closely guarded trade secrets, so published long-term prices are estimates based on aggregated information rather than direct market data.
When Microsoft chose Three Mile Island over other available shut-down nuclear plants, this choice was limited because there are very few US reactors that were shut down for economic reasons rather than technical issues—maybe half a dozen at most (Palisades, Dwayne Arnold, and a few others are among the only options).
